文伸出版 (Bunshin Publishing)
Job Description: Bunshin is a publishing company located in Mitaka Japan. Check out their website here.
Location:
Level of Japanese Required: Intermediate-Advanced level
Typical Day: Interns help find English resources/ photos to reference for publications, help put together packages for clients, and help edit English texts.
Schedule: The 24 hours required for this internship can be completed over 3 8-hour work days, working from 9 am to 6 pm.
What Former Interns Say: " Through this internship I was able to see what it was really like to work in a Japanese company, and it helped me understand the kind of work ethic that is expected for those who work in Japan (in a conventional company). I would advise future students to become somewhat familiar with specialized vocabulary (regarding publishing and printing) because nobody at the company really speaks English and this vocabulary is not what you would come across every day in Japan. However, if you do not know specific words, they will do their best to explain what they can in Japanese for you which is helpful. Also, make sure you bring a strong work ethic because it truly feels like you are within a Japanese company, and it is best to mimic their diligence."
- Olivia Hix, Fall 2017
Former Intern's End of Semester Presentation: At the end of the Fall semester, Middlebury School in Japan students presented about their Community Engagement experience in Japanese. Watch below to hear about Bunshin Publishing!
